South Korea has announced trade talks with the U.S. scheduled for this week. The meetings will take place during the spring gatherings of the IMF and World Bank. Finance Minister Choi Sang-mok and Trade Minister Ahn Duk-geun will lead the Korean delegation to consult with Trade Representative Jamieson Greer and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. The Korean Trade Ministry released the schedule on Sunday. The main focus of the talks will be to push back against the 25% “reciprocal” tariff announced by President Donald Trump, which was temporarily paused but Seoul wants it reduced or scrapped completely to avoid further damage to the country’s fragile exports.
